Mystery Guest

Everyone experiences events — big or small, planned or spontaneous.

From your aunt’s wedding to lively city festivals, buzzing concerts, open days at school, and community get-togethers. In a vibrant, multicultural city, you’ll find music festivals, colorful cultural celebrations, tasty food truck fairs, thrilling sports tournaments, open mic nights, inspiring art exhibitions, and friendly block parties.

No matter the event, one thing’s for sure: they all bring people together.

Events generally fall into three categories:

  • Private events, such as weddings or birthday parties
  • Public events, like festivals or concerts open to everyone
  • Business events, including conferences, trade fairs, or product launches

No matter the type, events share a similar structure and require careful organisation to succeed. This includes planning, managing resources, coordinating teams, ensuring safety, and communicating effectively.

In this assignment:

  • You will choose your own event to attend as a Mystery Guest.
  • During your visit, you will observe and evaluate key aspects of the event experience.
  • Based on your observations, you will make practical suggestions to improve future editions.

Why this assignment matters
Observing an event in detail helps you understand the complexity behind its success. As a Mystery Guest, you gain insights into how different elements combine to create a safe, enjoyable, and well-run event. Your observations will form the basis for a short report and practical recommendations.

Proof of attendance
Participation in a physical event visit is required.
To confirm your visit, you must upload at least 3 photos of yourself at the event when you submit your work via the ‘Core’ form.
